📈 Instagram avg: 1–3%
ER by Followers = (Total Engagements ÷ Followers) × 100. The most common formula, useful for comparing accounts of different sizes. ER by Reach = (Engagements ÷ Reach) × 100. More accurate for paid/boosted posts where organic reach differs from follower count. ER by Impressions = (Engagements ÷ Impressions) × 100. Useful for measuring content efficiency across total views including repeat viewers.
A good Instagram engagement rate is typically 1–3% for larger accounts (100K+ followers) and 3–6% for mid-size accounts (10K–100K). Micro-influencers (1K–10K) often see 6–10%. Anything above 6% is considered excellent.
Engagements include likes, comments, shares, saves (Instagram), retweets (Twitter), reactions (LinkedIn/Facebook). Our calculator includes all four: likes, comments, shares, and saves.
Common causes: posting too frequently or infrequently, content not matching audience interests, wrong posting times, algorithm changes, or follower growth outpacing engagement growth. Experiment with content formats and posting times.
Brands evaluate influencers by ER rather than follower count alone. An account with 10K followers and 8% ER is typically more valuable than one with 100K and 0.5% ER. A minimum 2–3% ER is usually expected for paid collaborations.
